Ottawa University assistant coach Josh Homolka was one of three finalists for the American Football Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year Award.
In his six years as defensive coordinator Homolka's defenses have been some of the best in the NAIA and this past season was no different. The Braves were ranked third in the NAIA in defensive passing efficiency (92.8), 20th in defending the pass (184.3), 23rd in scoring defense (22.6), 29th in total sacks (23),
32nd in opponent fourth down conversion percentage (40.5),
and 40th in sacks per game (1.9).
The Assistant Coach of the Year award was first presented in 1997 and was created to honor assistant coaches who excel in community service, commitment to the student-athlete, on-field coaching success and AFCA professional organization involvement.
